Question by German Muscle: Is it just me or does CARS (cash for clunkers) seem like cruel and unusual punishment for cars?
I thought the government abolished cruel and un-usual punishment. This is just mean though, to put liquid glass in the motor and run it till it seizes before it is crushed. Thats like sticking a man with a small dose of rat poison so he is slowly dying and then shooting him. CRUEL AND UNUSUAL. Sorry, just my opinion. Whats yours?

What a SNEAKY SNEAK.

Adam tells me: I’m serving a paper for my dad on the North side. I saw a Rambler for sale. It’s 0. Can I trade the BMW for it?

I say NO, of course not, the BMW is worth WAY more than 0, but let’s ask my dad if we can have the cash for the car, I’m SURE he’ll let us have it!

Adam says fine. He gets it, we’ll wait, maybe go look at the car later.

Then I say I’m going to stay at work and get a workout in and he practically begs me to come home so we can go "work out together later". I agree. I have no idea what’s going on.

UNTIL TWITTER GIVES IT AWAY–he Twittered "muahahahaha" and it was mere seconds before getting home that I saw it and I begin thinking "OMG. What if I turn the corner around the garage and there’s a RAMBLER THERE?!"

AND SURE ENOUGH.

For reals.

It’s really solid, missing only a few things, new motor, only 86k on the car itself, a sweet teal interior, all the hubcaps, etc. I AM PLEASED AS PUNCH.

Especially because the guy really wanted 00 for it, it’s worth at least 00, and Adam traded the BMW straight up, which needed k of work and we don’t have hardly any money in the BMW really. So even if we were to get rid of the Rambler, it’s still a wise investment.

But I’m not getting rid of the Rambler. Pretty much the first thing I said was "I can’t wait to take this to the beach this summer!" SERIOUSLY CAN’T WAIT.

CAN YOU BELIEVE I FINALLY GOT A RAMBLER?!?! Only freakin’ 9 years later!

postheadericon Does a vehicle with a salvage title qualify for the cars, cash for clunkers program?

Question by stapeler: Does a vehicle with a salvage title qualify for the cars, cash for clunkers program?
I have a rebuilt vehicle with a salvage title. Apparently there is debate over whether or not a salvaged vehicle qualifies.

The official information states this:

“Clear” title. This means the title must be free of any liens or other encumbrances. If you have liens, you need to get these cleared before going to the dealer. This may include evidence on the face of the title showing no lien; that the title has been cleared (signed and stamped accordingly), or with an attached lien release from the lien holder.

A salvage title should not be a problem. Those cars are on the road and can be licensed and driven. The title just needs to prove you own the car.
